Seaside 14 Black Off To Atlanta
Seaside 14 Black, 16 Black, and 18 Black have all qualified for the Junior Olympic Championships in the Open Division. The tournament will begin July 1 and conclude July 7 for the Seaside teams (18's - July 1-4; 16's - July 2-5; 14's - July 4-7).

Seaside 14 Black, coached by Lauren Waldrop, is ranked in the Top Ten in So Cal and are steadily improving. This is the first time since 2004 that the 14's from Seaside have participated at the National Tournament. Way to go boys!!

Seaside 16 Black, coached by Ted Summer-Torres and Travis Lee, finished the Fall campaign in the Top Three in So Cal and definitely have a shot at a National Championship. The last time a Seaside 16 team medaled was 2003 when four-time Junior Olympic All American, Chase Budinger, was playing on the 16-1 team coached by Jeff Hall. They finished third.

Seaside 18 Black, coached by Sonny Knight, put together a spectacular late rush to glory in January by finishing 11th in the Invitational and garnering the final bid to the Open Division. So, once again, Seaside 18 Black returns to it's customary position of joining the nation's elite and will be gunning for a club milestone of winning four National Championships.

Congratulations to all these fine teams, their players, coaches, and supportive parents. They are all well deserving of these qualifying spots and we all wish them the best of luck!!

On a final note, Seaside 18 White, coached by Tony Fajardo, will be heading to Atlanta to compete in the Club Division. This team competed on the same level as the Seaside Green team, coached by Leonardo Moraes, all Fall. The team will be strengthened by the Spring tryout and should be very competitive in the club division. Congratulations to Tony and all the boys down in south and east counties.

After losing a tough three-game match in the finals of the So Cal Boys Classic to Balboa Bay (Orange County) VBC, Seaside 18 Black runs into the same Balboa team at the Junior Olympics. At Nationals, again it was Balboa Bay turning back Seaside in the quarter-finals (25-18, 20-25, 15-11) on the way to winning the Championship of the Gold Bracket in the Open Division. Seaside finished fifth overall, the ninth time since 1990 the 18 Black team has finished 5th or higher at the National Championships. Despite ankle injuries that hobbled two of Seaside's star players - Myles Muagututia and Taylor Hughes - the team was the only club to take a game off Balboa at the JO's. Balboa Bay defeated Epic of San Diego in the finals 25-14, 25-15.
